How does SENCO Coaching work?
Our SENCO Coaching helps SENCOs become the school leader on SEN, rather than just a manager.
We help SENCOs develop strategic focus and enable change for the better; to support colleagues with Quality First Teaching, high quality differentiation and personalising learning; to quality assure interventions; to performance manage effectively; and to lead on whole school CPD.

The role of SENCO is very different today than it was 5 years ago.
Inherited school systems that are paper driven and intervention led, which lack impact and evaluation measures—and which are not student focused—can lead to already disadvantaged students not making the progress they should.
Workshops
SENCO workshops are usually half day sessions and involve a number of SENCOs from local schools or Trust members. The workshops (most often a series of three) explore the challenges commonly faced by modern SENCOs and the systems, structures, time and budget constraints that may be preventing them from improving outcomes for their students. Resources, advice and support are shared.
Forums
With diminishing local authority resources many SENCOs find themselves isolated from a peer group that understands and is supportive to the challenges they face. For that reason, Inclusion Expert offers SENCO forums to enable peer-to-peer professional support and guidance. The forums can be face-to-face meetings for an agreed number of sessions or can be delivered over Skype.
1:1 Support
In addition to workshops and forums, we offer 1:1 support. We can advise and train new SENCOs, support a colleague new to a school, or work with an experienced SENCO to overhaul their school’s systems. Such support is usually delivered in a series of one-day visits.

Narrowing the Attainment Gap
Narrowing the Attainment Gap is designed to support school leaders in understanding and reducing the attainment gap in the context of their setting. Drawing on research and his own extensive experience in leading a team that has worked with over 1,000 schools, Daniel Sobel examines the real issues behind the attainment gap and the barriers schools face when trying to narrow it.
